Decorating Your Kid’s Room
If you really want to make your Orlando apartment feel like home, one of the best places to start is in your child’s bedroom. When a little one’s room takes on its own life and personality, any house, apartment or condo will truly feel like a home.
Getting started with this prospect is going to take some planning. This is especially so if a child is old enough to help in the decision-making process. Youngsters from about the age of four and up can really get in on the act in a big way.
To make the decorating process a whole lot of fun for both you and your child, sit down and brainstorm:
Decorating themes – This is one of the best places to start because it will give you a basis for all other decisions that will need to be made. You and your child can explore such things as favorite animals, cartoons, storybooks, sports and more. No matter what is chosen, make sure you child really gets in on the act and has a say. If at all possible, a child’s room should reflect the child’s personality and interests.

Furniture – While it’s perfectly acceptable to decorate a child’s room with adult furniture, little ones often long for something different. Kids’ furniture can provide the perfect look, colors and even durability to match any decorating themes selected. Furniture to consider when decorating kids rooms includes everything from beds and dressers to desks, nightstands, toy boxes and beyond.
Accessories – If at all possible, take your child with you to pick out accessories. To really make a kid’s room pop, consider wall coverings, bedding, carpets and even lighting. When the right touches are made, your child’s room will come together perfectly.
Art work – You do not have to spend a small fortune on art work for a child’s room. In fact, if you play your cards right, your child can handle some of the art projects personally. Have him or her sit down and draw or paint pictures that match or go with the theme. Once their done, consider framing them for hanging in the room. Also, if your lease will allow, creating murals with stencils is a really fun way for both of you to get involved in creating artwork for the room.
Decorating your child’s room is a great way to make sure your Orlando apartment really feels like home. Getting your child involved in the process can make it even more fun.
